The casting department for the upcoming MGM feature film "The Hobbit" is holding an open casting call for Scale Doubles. A Scale Double is used in a film when an actor's real-life size is different than the character's size. For instance, if an actor is 5ft 8in, but the character in the film in 3ft 6in, then large and/or small scale doubles are used in certain scenes so that the characters would appear to be the appropriate size.

The adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s "The Hobbit" will be made into two live action films. Bilbo Baggins was a hobbit who wanted to be left alone in quiet comfort. But the wizard Gandalf came along with a band of homeless dwarves. Soon Bilbo was drawn into their quest, facing evil orcs, savage wolves, giant spiders, and worse unknown dangers. Finally, it was Bilbo alone and unaided who had to confront the great dragon Smaug, the terror of an entire countryside.
